What is Thai Massage?
Thai Massage or Ancient Massage was brought to Thailand some 2 500 years ago by Jivaka Kumar Baccha to the Buddhist order of monks. The teachings known as Promwiham Sii are based in Ayurvedic medicine, embracing the four states of the mind: Loving Kindness, Compassion, Joy and Balance.
Thai medicine teaches that there are 72,000 energy lines in the body or “sen” that carry chi or life-force energy. Thai Massage concentrates on 10 main lines with slow, rhythmic and passive postures to produce a deeper and more profound stretch than what can be achieved alone.
What to expect:
Thai Massage differs slightly from other modalities, the treatment requires no oils, the client wears loose clothing and a floor matt is used in place of a table.
